CHICAGO - An early 23-point run led the Blue Demons over the visiting University of Chicago Maroons, 81-36, Friday night at McGrath arena. Friday's action was the lone exhibition game for DePaul heading into the season opener against Columbia on Nov. 17.

DePaul quickly grabbed the tip and went right to work creating three offensive opportunities on its first possession. Following an offensive rebound, Devin Hill was fouled and knocked down both free chances to open the scoring for the Blue Demons.

Following Chicago's first bucket of the night, Jeremiah Kelly got out front on a pair of breakaway lay-ups off two DePaul steals to sandwich Will Walker's second three-pointer of night. Kelly second lay-in gave the Blue Demons a 13-2 advantage at the first media time out.

Walker's third trifecta of night pushed the DePaul lead to 19-2 before a pair of Mac Koshwal free throws at 13:21 gave the Blue Demons a 19-point advantage.

A follow-up tip-in by Koshwal gave the Blue Demons a 30-point advantage midway through the first half and DePaul never looked back. Nate Rogers knocked down a 10-footer just before intermission to give the home team a 47-12 advantage at halftime for its largest lead of the first half.

The second half played a little closer with DePaul holding a 34-24 advantage as the Blue Demon bench got a majority of the minutes. Eleven players found the scoring column led by 15 points apiece from Hill and Walker. Koshwal added 10 points and seven boards and Eric Wallace chipped in an efficient eight points and nine rebounds in 17 minutes of action.

Kelly finished the evening with eight points, seven assists and two steals along with eight points from Mario Stula that included a pair of three-pointers. For the game, the Blue Demons knocked down 10-of-21 attempts from long range.

John Bonelli led the Maroons with six points while John Kinsella, Tom Williams and Chase Davis scored five points each.
