Katherine Harry Checks in with Women's Basketball Fans - September 26

|
Hi Women's Basketball fans!  Happy Fall! And with the start of fall, you know what that means- basketball season is officially upon us!

92611Blog.JPGSince I'm a journalism/public relations and advertising major, I asked Coach Bruno if I could write a blog for the team to get practice for what I may want to do in the future.  He thought it was a great idea, so here I am! I'll be writing posts as often as possible -- highlighting our various trips during basketball season and also some of the fun things we do as a team off the court. Make sure to check back often to keep up with our team!

Yesterday we had our third team practice with all of the players and all of the coaches. It is great to see the freshmen improving so much and all of the older girls rallying together to make sure everyone is getting better, everyday. We have also been working with our strength and conditioning coach, Jimmy (Duba), to prepare for the season. Everybody is getting faster and stronger!

However, not everything is all basketball around here! A couple of weeks ago the team went bowling together and we had a fantastic time! It was so much fun to see everybody laughing and having a blast outside of basketball. We love to compete on the court but we also can compete at the lanes! If I remember correctly -- our freshman Chanise was the leading bowler.

Last week we had a team dinner in our room. Anna, Megan, Maureen, and one of our managers Brittany cooked pasta for the team, and Tatiana's (another one of our manager) mom made a birthday cake for one of our other managers. That red velvet cake was on point! It was nice to get everybody together for a meal to hang out outside of the gym.

This past weekend, Kelsey Reynolds and I decided to take a little urban adventure in this great city of Chicago. With so much to see, we ended up heading to Navy Pier and just to walk around and experience the sights and sounds of the pier. While walking through Navy Pier, we stumbled across a Build A Bear workshop, where we both stopped and made stuffed animals. Kelsey and I had a great time and we will be taking our new friends on our trips with us!

That's about all the news for now! Check back in soon for more updates on the team!

Go DePaul!

Katherine

P.S. Check out our some of our team photos on Facebook -- we had a great time taking the photos!
