Hi DePaul Fans!

Happy New Year Everyone! It has been a while since we have checked in, so I will start with our Las Vegas trip in December! The team was blessed with the opportunity to spend some quality time in Las Vegas and play at the Duel in the Desert tournament. It was my first time traveling with the team since my transfer in 2011 and I was very excited to travel with them.

We headed to Vegas on Dec. 17 before games began two days later on Thursday. Our first night there, we got the chance to watch a great performance by Cirque Du Soleil. The next day we had a great practice, prepared for Pittsburgh and visited the Hoover Dam.

The Hoover Dam was eye-opening and a really good learning experience. It is amazing how a body of water can provide a water source and electricity for Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Phoenix and so many other towns in-between!  For those of you who have been to Vegas, you know that there are A LOT of lights!

Despite all the fun we had during our first two days, it was time to get to business. We were there on a mission and that was to get one in a row, three times. As a result of focus and determination, we defeated Pittsburgh, Washington and Louisiana Monroe and became the 2013 Duel in the Desert Champions! This was an awesome experience for me because it was my first tournament road championship and it felt great to win it with this team.

After a good and long week, it was time for us to part ways and get home to our families for Christmas. It was a bittersweet moment because we all enjoy each other's company, but it was much-needed break to clear our minds before conference play.

All in all - Vegas and basketball with my teammates, it doesn't get much better than that.

After spending a few days at home for Christmas, it was time to get back to business and prepare for our last non-conference game against Bradley. We took care of business in Peoria and are looking to keep that momentum going as we continue conference play.

Check out our game tonight when we take on our third BIG EAST opponent, Providence, at 7 p.m. on LPTV!

Until then, Go BLUE!
