Eric Hermosillo and Dunja Antunovic Named DePaul's Institutional Scholar-Athletes of the Year



CHICAGO - Men's soccer student-athlete Eric Hermosillo and tennis's Dunja Antunovic were selected as the 2008-09 BIG EAST Institutional Scholar-Athlete of the Year winners for DePaul University. The selections were made by the Conference’s Academic Affairs Committee. The conference selects winners from each institution with each winner receiving a $2,000 scholarship.

Hermosillo earned BIG EAST Academic honors in 2005, 2006, and 2007. He has 13 career starts in 49 matches overall. In 2007, Hermosillo was named second team NSCAA/adidas All-Scholar Region honoree.

Antunovic was the recipient of the Cissie Leary Award for Sportsmanship in 2008. She is a three-time member of the BIG EAST All-Academic Team. She is also an ITA Scholar Athlete. Antunovic competed for Hungary at the 2007 World University Games in Bangkok, Thailand and was named the winner of the 2008 Jean Nordberg Award for her excellence in leadership, personal character, and academics.

The BIG EAST Scholar-Athlete Awards were established to recognize student-athletes who have achieved success in the classroom and on the field. The scholarships given to the athletes may be applied to graduate or professional studies.
