DePaul Athletics Partners with Lincoln Park Community-Wide Forum to Celebrate Athletics



CHICAGO – On Saturday, DePaul student-athletes and staff will take part in Celebrate Athletics! a basketball clinic at DePaul’s Sullivan Athletics Center, the fourth event of the Lincoln Park Community-Wide Forums, “Year of the Child.”

 

Nearly 100 students from four Lincoln Park elementary schools (St. Clements’s, Oscar Mayer, Lincoln and Alcott) will join more than 40 Blue Demon student-athletes including the men’s and women’s basketball teams and selected coaches in a basketball clinic that will take place from 9 a.m. to noon.

 

The clinic will feature presentations from DePaul’s strength and conditioning and sports medicine staffs on the value of proper nutrition and exercise before the coaches and student-athletes take over and lead the Lincoln Park students in basketball drills, skill work and half-court games.

 

Each camp participant will be receive a DePaul t-shirt and lunch to conclude the morning’s activities.

 

 “The Year of the Child” is the most recent project of the Lincoln Park Community-Wide Forum, created in 1999 by Lincoln Park community organizations and Children’s Memorial Hospital. The goal is to increase community involvement and investment in the well-being of Lincoln Park by promoting child-focused education and activities.
