DePaul Athletics Department Announces Staff Additions



CHICAGO - DePaul University announced today that Blair Banwart has been named Assistant Director of Athletics Facilities and Erin McGovern has joined the athletics department as Assistant Director of Business and Financial Affairs. Additionally, Dave Corzine has changed his role in the athletics department to the position of Assistant to the Athletics Director for Community Outreach. Corzine was Director of Basketball Operations with the men's basketball program during the 2008-09 campaign.

Banwart will coordinate all of DePaul's outdoor facility operations including Wish Field, Cacciatore Stadium and Lane Stadium while assisting with the daily operations of McGrath Arena. He has worked with the facilities staff since 2000 and is also a part-time faculty member at DePaul in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Banwart teaches a class titled "Chicago Cubs" for DePaul's Discover/Explore Chicago classes that takes in not only the franchise's storied history, but also its impact on the surrounding neighborhood. Banwart earned his Master of Arts in Writing at DePaul in 1997 and a Master of Fine Arts from School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1999.

Corzine shifts into an administrative role and will lead the athletics department in its community relations efforts while also serving as the lead game administrator for DePaul's olympic sports. The former men's basketball standout played for Ray Meyer from 1974-78 and is the only player in school history with over 1,000 career rebounds. During his four seasons in Lincoln Park, the Blue Demons compiled a 77-34 record with a visit to the regional finals in the 1978 NCAA Tournament while Corzine totaled 1,896 points and 1,151 career rebounds. The 18th overall pick in the 1978 NBA Draft played 13 seasons with the Washington Bullets, San Antonio Spurs, Chicago Bulls, Orlando Magic and Seattle Supersonics.

McGovern, a 2007 graduate of DePaul, spent the last two years working in the athletics department as a graduate assistant while earning her masters degree. She worked in DePaul's compliance department assisting the staff with the day-to-day operations. McGovern was also an assistant basketball and softball coach at St. Ignatius College Prep where she graduated from in 2003.
