DePaul Blue Demon Reading Club
DePaul Blue Demon Reading Club To All Chicagoland Reading Administrators and Coordinators: The DePaul University Athletic Department is excited to embark on the 3rd year of its DePaul Blue Demon Reading Club. Last year, we saw a great increase in school and library enrollment and would like to keep the momentum rolling this fall. This reading incentive program is a fun way to emphasize the importance of reading while rewarding students for their efforts. The program rewards students that reach their reading goals with a free ticket voucher to select DePaul Men’s or Women’s Basketball home games. The DePaul Blue Demons are currently reaching out to elementary schools and libraries throughout Chicagoland in order to help call attention to this important aspect of learning. Listed below is a synopsis of how the program works. We would appreciate if you could pass this along to any teacher or reading instructor that might be interested in enrolling your school or specific class.
Grades: 1-8
Time Line: Administrators or Teachers can enroll their students/classes/schools at anytime until November 1st and reading must be complete by January 15th, 2009 in order for the students to take full advantage of the Free Ticket Vouchers.
Program: The Blue Demon Reading Club will consist of students reading four books and/or a set number of minutes within an allotted time frame, usually four weeks or a month. Enrolled students will keep track of their minutes or books on a scorecard (provided by DePaul) specific to their teacher or school’s goal. After the time frame is complete, all students that have read the required goal, will receive a ticket voucher good for selected DePaul Men’s and Women’s basketball home games. It is not meant to be a time consuming program for the teachers or administrators. All they have to do is let us know that they would like to enroll their students and in the end how many have completed the program. We’ll take care of the rest!
Redemption: After the enrolled class or school has completed their program, the teacher or administrator will let our Ticket Office know how many students completed the program. Our Ticket Office will then issue the Free Ticket Vouchers along with additional discounted ticket order forms back to the teacher/administrators to distribute to their students. Ticket vouchers and the additional discounted ticket order forms can only be redeemed with the DePaul Ticket Office in person or by mail.
Cost: Free! There is NO COST to participate in this program.
