CHICAGO The DePaul men’s and women’s soccer teams were recently honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America with the Team Academic Award. DePaul University is just one of 59 schools from across the country at all collegiate levels to have both the men’s and women’s teams honored.
To earn the NSCAA Team Academic Award, a team must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher. The DePaul women’s team posted a team GPA of 3.47 during the 2007-08 academic year while the men’s squad registered a 3.28 cumulative GPA.
The honor is the seventh for the women’s team since 2000 as the Blue Demons have earned the honor in each of the last six years. The men’s team has won the award four times since 2003.
A total of 364 men’s and women’s teams received the distinction for the 2007-08 academic year with 104 men’s teams and 260 women’s programs. The list includes programs from all levels of NCAA and NAIA schools.
