The men's and women's track and field team ran well at the Notre Dame Invitational

South Bend, Ind.- Fallowing a tough week of practice, DePaul men's and women's track and field team competed at the Notre Dame Invitational on Saturday in South Bend, Ind. Michigan State, Western Michigan and host school Notre Dame all joined the Blue Demons.
Representing DePaul in the 200m dash, Lindsey Holden and Tonderai Tomu each ran BIG EAST Championship Qualifying times. Tomu ran a career-best time of 22.01 to finish second and Holden finished in third with a time of 25.29. Holden also competed in the 400m dash and ran a time of 56.34 to take second place.
The women's middle distance runners battled for their times. In the 1,000m run, Mary Cate Quiett finished in second with a BIG EAST Championship Qualifying time of 2:53.37 and Toni Salvatore ran a BIG EAST Championship Qualifying time of 4:55.64 in the 1,600m to take fourth place.
Matthew Graham returned to competition and won his second 3,000m run of the season with a time of 8:24.83. Brian Begalke also represented the Blue Demons in the 3,000m run and finished in fifth.
In the shot put, Tim Nedow threw a distance of 17.58 to finish in first for the fourth straight meet. Also, competing in the shot put was Ryan Asta who placed third.
Next weekend, the Blue Demons travel to Champaign, Ill. for the Division I Illinois Intercollegiate. A week later, DePaul returns to South Bend, Ind. for the Meyo Invitational.
