Blue Demons Wrap Up Successful Day At Wisconsin Elite Invitational

MADISON, Wis. -- For the third time this season, sophomore Tayler Whittler broke the DePaul school record in the 60-meter dash.
This time, Whittler posted a time of 7.59 seconds to finish in second place at the Wisconsin Elite Invitational in Madison, Wis., where the Blue Demons competed against Wisconsin, Indiana State, Northern Illinois and Marquette.
The Blue Demons posted several top-five performances in addition to Whittler's record-setting run. Sarah Moss (16.13m) took fourth in the weight throw and also set a new personal record in the shot put (13.38m) while taking fifth.
In the women's 600, Jackie Kasal and Shianne Baggett put together strong performances, finishing in second and third place, respectively. Kasal crossed the finish line in 1:35.03, while Baggett posted a time of 1:35.81. Kasal followed up her performance in the 600 with a fifth-place finish (5:20.70) in the mile run. In the 400, Julie Dambra clocked in at 58.97 seconds to take fourth out of 11 competitors.
Taylor Farley and Hannah Pulliam also posted top-five performances on Saturday in Madison. Farley took fifth in the 200 with a time of 26.42 while Pulliam grabbed fifth in the 3,000 with a time of 10:31.86.
Finally, both DePaul 4x400-meter relay teams finished second on Saturday. Tonderai Tomu, Brandon Threats, Xavier Jones and Mac Melto placed second behind Indiana State with a time of 3:17.43. In the women's 4x4, Dambra, Whittler, Ayesha Ewing and Erin McCoy grabbed second, also behind Indiana State, with a time of 3:52.29.
DePaul will next compete at the Indiana Relays in Bloomington, Ind. The two-day event begins Jan. 31.
