NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Day one of the Meyo Invitational at Notre Dame’s Loftus Sports Complex concluded on Friday night as sophomore Chris Miedema led the Blue Demons with a sixth place finish in the men’s 500 meter dash.

Miedema, DePaul’s top finisher on the day, ran a 1:04.78 minute dash to place sixth in the 24-person field in the event.

Ashley Holden opened up the day for the Blue Demons as the freshman registered a 5.37 meter long jump. Ayesha Ewing followed in the 60 meter dash with a 7.90 second finish, though neither freshman cracked the top 20.

Fellow rookie Jazmyne Durrah took home a top-10 finish, however, as she registered a career-best mark of 17.08 meters in the women’s weight throw to earn ninth. On the men’s side of the weight throw, DePaul’s lone representative in the event, Adam Kovacs, registered a 13.65 meter throw for 24th place.

In the men’s 1,000 meter run, Lucas Junk paced DePaul with a 21st-place time of 2:30.61 minutes. Behind him, Max Clink (2:31.24) took 23rd and Ben Hiromura (2:32.57) placed 26th.

The women’s 500 meter run saw two Blue Demons compete. Kelcie Daniels led DePaul with a time of 1:17.86 while Rebecca Adamcheck finished at 1:18.41.

The Meyo Invitational is the third indoor meet hosted by the Fighting Irish so far this season. The Blue Demons also participated at the Blue and Gold Invitational and the Notre Dame Invitational.

The Blue Demons return to Notre Dame tomorrow for the conclusion of the two-day invitational. The meet is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. with the women’s 3,000 meter run.
