Track and Field Wins Five Events at Hoosier Hills

BLOOMNIGTON, IN - The DePaul men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up a successful Hoosier Hills meet with five victories. The one-day meet was hosted by Indiana University at the Gladstein Fieldhouse on Friday afternoon.

BIG EAST leader Brian Mada came out victorious for the third meet in a row. Mada claimed first in his signature event, the triple jump, completing 15.37-meter. Adam Nelson finished the 60m dash in second, clocking in at 6.83. This is the sophomore's season best time after competing in this event in the previous three meets.     

On the women's side, Kiersten Walker continued her dominance in the 400m dash. Walker took first, finishing at 55.61. Other conference leader, Alexia Brooks, won the 60m hurdles at 8.46. Ariel Davis took fourth, clocking in at 8.73. 

The Blue Demon distance crew won two events. Freshman Lizzie DeJoie took first in the 800-meter run, clocking in at 2:18.66. The distance medley of Jessica Sanborn, Kaitlen Crawford, Elizabeth Endy, Miranda Rea took home the gold, finishing at 12:10.96.

Other standout performances on the men's team include senior Jeremy Lozano's 1-mile run. Lozano placed second with 4:18.23 on the clock. Newcomer Daniel Toomey claimed silver in the 800-meter run at 1:56.57. Both distance medley relays finished in the top three. A team of Charlie MacIntyre, Jarvis Friend-Grace, Daniel Toomey, Jeremy Lozano finished second, clocking in 10:27.54. Just behind in third, Jake Pecorin, Matt Almeranti, Jack Korte, Henry Harper raced to a 10:50.41 finish.
