Two New Records

AMES, Iowa– The DePaul men’s and women’s track and field teams finished the ISU Classic Saturday. At day two of the ISU Classic, two DePaul student-athletes set DePaul Records.
Lindsey Holden set a DePaul Record in the 400m dash when she finished in 10th with a time of 56.09. Also representing the women’s team, Kelly Pickering finished in 22nd with a career-best time of 5:12.3 in the mile and Freshman Elizabeth Jefferson ran a 400m dash time of 58.16. This is Jefferson’s first BIG EAST Qualifying time.
On the men’s side, Chris Kyles first set the DePaul record in the 60m dash when he ran a time of 6.87 in the preliminary. However, in the finals, he pushed the DePaul Record farther, when he finished in seventh with a time of 6.83.
Tyler Schmitt and Ian Sanchez each ran personal-best times in their events. Schmitt came in 14th in the mile with a time of 4:21.77. Sanchez represented the Blue Demons in the 800m run and ran a time of 1:57.46.
The Blue Demons return to competition next week when they travel to Akron, Ohio for the BIG EAST Conference Championship.
