Fraser Leads DePaul On Day One
March 30, 2012 CINCINNATI, Ohio - While only three Blue Demons competed on day one of the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational, the DePaul track and field team came away with a first, second, and third place finish in Cincinnati. For the second straight week, senior Melissa Fraser took home the top spot in the javelin throw. After registering the nation's best throw last weekend at the FSU Relays, Fraser placed first with a throw of 52.13 meters. Behind Cincinnati's Emelie Larson in second, fellow senior Alanna Kovacs finished in third with a 49.90-meter distance. The final Blue Demon to compete on Friday was freshman Adam Kovacs. After placing third last weekend in the javelin, Adam Kovacs finished in second on Friday. His 59.16-meter throw bettered his career-best 56.96-meter throw from the FSU Relays. The rest of the DePaul squad returns to action tomorrow beginning at 8 a.m. CST with the women's hammer throw. The men's event follows immediately thereafter as over 20 Blue Demons are scheduled to compete on Saturday.
