DES MOINES, Iowa. - The women's 4x100-meter relay team led the way for DePaul Friday at the prestigious Drake Relays.

The combination of Tayler Whittler, Loreal Curtis, Kayla Schwarz and Ayesha Ewing broke fast out of lane one of the Jim Duncan Track at Drake Stadium and set a new school record with a time of 46.53.

That eclipsed the record the same foursome had set April 6th at the Chicagoland Championships in southwest suburban Romeoville when they recorded a time of 46.75.

The men's 4x200m relay came oh so close to joining the women in setting a school record. A lineup of Jordon Vaughn, Joe Turner, Mac Melto and Brandon Threats finished in 1:26.94. The school record is 1:26.87.

At the Johnny Bright Field facility, Sarah Moss came in 11th in the women's discus throw with a BIG EAST Championships qualifying mark of 48.27 meters. For Moss, that was the second-best performance in that event this outdoor season.

Also at Bright Field, Adam Kovacs came away with a BIG EAST mark of 54.36m in the men's javelin.

On Saturday, the Blue Demons will compete in the men's and women's 1600m sprint medley relays while Durrell McDonald will go for a personal best in the high jump.

In addition, DePaul's track and field team is also competing at the Stan Lyons Invitational in Indianapolis and at the Wisconsin-Whitewater Meet.
