Vaughn qualifies for 100-meter dash finals at BIG EAST Championships

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Jordon Vaughn came away with the best performance for DePaul Saturday at the BIG EAST Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
The sophomore sprinter from Atlanta qualified for Sunday's finals in the men's 100-meter dash with a time of 10.60 seconds, just .02 off his personal record.
Vaughn's clocking was the sixth-best in the preliminaries.
Vaughn came into the weekend representing the best chance the Blue Demons had for winning a BIG EAST event. He had recorded the third-best time in the 100m among BIG EAST sprinters.
Brandon Threats sprinted to a career best 21.94 time in the men's 200m.
The top performance on the women's side was Erin McCoy's personal record of 1:02.41 in the 400m hurdles, coming within .10 of qualifying for Sunday's finals.
She had the ninth-fastest time in prelims with the top eight advancing.
Sarah Gorden turned in a good performance in the 100m hurdles, finishing with a career-best time of 14.40.
Along with Vaughn in the 100m, Sunday's other Blue Demon competitors include the men's 4x100m and 4x800m relay teams, the women's 4x100 and 4x400 relays, Blake Thompson in the men's discus throw plus Jazmyne Durrah and Sarah Moss in the women's discus.
