The DePaul men's and women's track and field teams competed at day two of the 2011 BIG EAST Outdoor Conference Championships this Saturday.

Philadelphia, Pa. - The DePaul men’s and women’s track and field teams competed at day two of the 2011 BIG EAST Outdoor Conference Championships this Saturday. On day two, Tim Nedow and Melissa Fraser were the top Blue Demon finishers.
For the second year in a row, Fraser has earned the title BIG EAST Champion. Overall, it is her third BIG EAST Championship title. Her toss of 51.95m in the javelin, topped the second place finisher by over three meters. Fraser has finished her events at the BIG EAST Championships; yesterday she placed second in the hammer throw.
Alanna Kovacs competed in two events on day two of the BIG EAST Championships. In the javelin, she placed fourth with a distance of 46.48m and in the shot put Kovacs finished in 14th with a toss of 12.90m. Kovacs wraps up her BIG EAST Championships tomorrow when she competes in the discus.
At the 2011 BIG EAST Indoor Championships, Nedow was crowned BIG EAST Champion and at the 2011 BIG EAST Outdoor Championships he has earned the same title. Nedow’s toss of 17.75m beat the second place finisher by just .06m. Nedow finishes his BIG EAST Championships tomorrow when he competes in the discus.
Also representing the women, Mary Cate Quiett competed in the prelims of the 800m run and finished with a time of 2:08.16. The time has earned Quiett the fourth seed in tomorrow’s final. Lindsey Holden ran in the 400m dash and finished in 11th with a season-best time of 55.79.
Represneting the men on the track, Matthew Graham scored and finished in eighth place in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 9:09.57.
Heading to the last day of competition, at the BIG EAST Championships, the men’s team is in ninth place with 11 points and the women’s team is in sixth with 23 points.
