ATLANTA - The Blue Demons came away with some good performances in their final track meet of the season Saturday at the Georgia Tech Invitational.

Chris Miedema set the trend early when he set a personal record in the 800m with a time of 1:50.49. That seemed to give DePaul some momentum after a lackluster day on Friday.

"The ladies had some good performances in the 400 meters," said DePaul track and field coach Dave Dopek. "Loreal Curtis ran a 55.90 and Lindsey Holden ran a 55.80, which was a season-best for her."

It got even better in the 400m hurdles as Erin McCoy set a personal record with a time of 1:02.19.

In the 200m, Tayler Whittler ran a career-best 24.27 and Brandon Threats finished with a career-best 21.70.

"We did not run a women's 4x400 because there wasn't enough time after the women's 200m," Dopek said. "All in all, it was a pretty good meet for us."

But finishing up on a positive note is not nearly enough for this coach who is bound and determined to build a top-notch track and field program at DePaul.

"If we are going to improve our conference position, our young team definitely has some work to do between now and next year's competitive season," Dopek said. "It's time for everyone to step it up."
