Brooks Qualifies for Saturday's Quarters in 100m Hurdles

100-Meter Hurdle First Round Results

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Alexia Brooks advanced to Saturday's 100-meter hurdle quarterfinals as one of the top 24 competitors after the first round on Friday evening at Sacramento State. Brooks has an opportunity to advance to the NCAA Championship meet with a top 12 finish on Saturday.

Brooks finished in 13.61 on Friday evening and finished fourth in her heat. The top three finishers in each heat move on along with the next to six finishers for 24 athletes to advance to Saturday.

USC's Dior Hall posted the top time in the event in 13.03 while Brooks' time put her in 20th place after the first round. On Saturday's the top three from the three quarterfinal races plus the next top three times advance to the national semifinals in Eugene, Ore., in June.

Earlier this season, Brooks set a new school record in the 100-meter hurdles. She posted the program-best time of 13.46 at the Lenny Lyles/Clark Wood Invitational in Louisville. At the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships, Brooks won the 100-meter hurdles and was part of DePaul's championship 4x100-meter relay team.

The women's 100-meter hurdle quarterfinals is set to start at 7:20 p.m. PT. DePaul final competitor at the NCAA West Preliminaries is Brian Mada in triple jump on Saturday. The triple jump begins at 7:30 p.m. PT.
