Kennedy and Reed Pace Men's Track and Field

CHICAGO – First-place finishes by Gavin Kennedy and Robert Reed led the men’s indoor track and field team at the Chicago Pentangular on Saturday.  The Blue Demons placed fourth in the meet on Saturday.  Kennedy and Anthony Becknek placed first and second, respectively, in the mile while Reed won the weight throw.
 
Kennedy ran the mile in a winning time of 4:23.87 followed by Becknek with a mark of 4:31.10.  Other top finishers included a second-place finish by Kriss Arnold in the 400-meter dash and a second place in the long jump by Rashard Deleston.

Reed led the field events with his winning distance of 13.37 meters in the weight throw.  He outdistanced Pat Reeden of UIC with a throw of 12.96 meters.  Reed also finished fifth in the shot put
 
The 4x400-meter relay team of Dan Branca, Jeff Perkins, Deleston and Arnold took second place with a time of 3:29.46.  Lewis won the relay in a winning time of 3:23.05.

DePaul continues the indoor season next Saturday at the Carthage College Invitational in Kenosha, Wis.
