Men's Track and Field Performs Well at Maroon Invitational
For complete results, click here. CHICAGO - The DePaul men’s track and field team had a nice start to the season on Saturday competing in the Maroon Invitational hosted by the University of Chicago. The Blue Demons won seven events while placing in the top three in 12 of the 15 events on Saturday. Rashard Deleston and Jarrod Jahnke took a pair of top three finishes in two events. Deleston won the long jump with a distance of 6.66 meters and took third place in the triple jump at 13.48 meters. Jahnke won the weight throw at 16.58 meters and finished third in the shot put with a distance of 14.31 meters. Rick Britton and Ben Cooke took the top two spots in the 3000-meter run. Britton won the event in 8:45.43 and Cooke was just behind Britton at 8:58.93. Larry Inanga started the indoor season with a winning time of 6.49 in the 55-meter dash while Anthony Becknek won the men’s 5000-meter run in 15:47.15. Webster Jones’ height of 1.92 meters gave him a first-place finish in the high jump. DePaul’s 4x400-meter relay team of Inanga, Doug Borh, Mike Scafide and Siddiqu Muhammad took first place with a winning time of 3:20.40. Muhammad also place third in the 200-meter dash at 22.86 while teammate Kim Trieu was third in the mile with a time of 4:26.27. The Blue Demons continue the indoor season next weekend at the Carthage College Invitational. The all day meet will take place in Kenosha, Wis. on Saturday.
