DePaul Jumpers Continue Success at Carthage as Teams Take Third

CHICAGO- The DePaul men’s and women’s track and field teams finished third in their respective fields at the Carthage College Division I Invitational Saturday in Kenosha, Wisconsin.  The Blue Demons captured first place in six events to finish behind UW-Milwaukee and Carthage.


For the second consecutive week, Kaylah Burks and Webster Jones won the men’s and women’s high jump titles.  Burks tied the DePaul record for women’s indoor high jump with a mark of 1.68m while Jones cleared the bar at 1.85m.  It was the sixth individual high jump title of Burks’ career.


DePaul also continued their success in women’s throwing events as Jamie Holifield won the weight throw with a distance of 16.72m and Erika Lockhart took second place in the shot put with a throw of 12.49m.


On the track, Kyra Coffey won the women’s 400m with a time of 59.95 while Carrie Moffett finished the 3,000m in 10:45.49 to take first place.  The women’s 4x400m relay team also won their title with a time of 4:14.85.


DePaul competes again this Saturday, January 21 at the Notre Dame Opener in South Bend, Indiana.
