Moffett Leads Track and Field at Hoosier Open

BLOOMINGTON, IN- Carrie Moffet's first place finish in the women's 5,000m led the DePaul track and field team at the Hoosier Open this weekend.  In addition, Kelly Cunningham set a personal best time of 5:33.64 in the women's mile and took third place.

 

Moffett won her race with a time of 18:30.30, finishing ahead of Butler's Jenny Homan and Lindsey Neeley and Megan Rainville of Murray State

 

Anthony Becknek notched a fourth place finish in the men's mile run with a time of 4:17.81 while Erica Scott took fourth in the women's 400m dash with a time of 58.12.

 

Tammy Burris also gave the Blue Demons a fourth place finish in the women's weight throw with a distance of 15.70m Jamie Holifield took sixth in the event with a 14.67m mark.

 

No team scores were kept at the meet, which pitted DePaul against tough competition from a No. 13 Indiana men's squad as well as fellow BIG EAST teams from Louisville.

 

The Blue Demons resume their indoor season on Saturday as they travel to Akron, Ohio for the Akron Open, site of the 2006 BIG EAST Indoor Championships.
