Strong Showing for Men's Track at Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Led by a winning 4x400-meter relay team, the DePaul men’s track and field team tallied a top three finish in seven events at the Notre Dame Invitational on Friday night at the Loftus Sports Center.  The Blue Demons were one of five teams competing on Friday joining host Notre Dame, Butler, Marquette and Michigan State.

The 4x400-meter relay team of Siddiqu Muhammad, Doug Bohr, Mike Scafide and Larry Inanga highlighted the evening for the Blue Demons.  The foursome won the relay event in a time of 3:19.05 ahead of second-place Marquette at 3:27.60.

Muhammad took second in the 400-meter dash while Scafide was third in the 500-meter dash.  Muhammad’s time of 49.33 was just behind Notre Dame’s Trevor McClain-Duer at 48.00.  Scafide placed third in the 500 with his time of 1:06.19.

Other top finishers for DePaul included Jarrod Jahnke, Webster Jones, Gavin Kennedy and Richard Byrne.  Jahnke took third in the weight throw with a distance of 16.96 meter (55’7.75”) and Jones was third in the high jump at 1.85 meters (6’0.75”).  Kennedy was third in the mile with a time of 4:13.20 while Byrne placed third in the 800 at 1:56.03.

The Blue Demons are off next weekend before returning to action at the Iowa State Classic and the Lewis University Invitational on Feb. 13-14.
