Blue Demons Head to Notre Dame for the Meyo Invitational

CHICAGO - DePaul's quest to gain additional qualifiers for the BIG EAST Indoor Track & Field Championships takes the Blue Demons to Notre Dame Friday and Saturday for the Meyo Invitational.
Nearly 50 teams will be lining up for the competition at the Loftus Sports Center.
DePaul is familiar with the facility after taking part in the Notre Dame Invitational on Jan. 19 and the Blue & Gold Meet on Dec. 7, 2012.
Jazmyne Durrah set a school record in the weight throw at the Notre Dame Invitational while Jackie Kasal (1,000-meter run), Lindsey Holden and Loreal Curtis (400m), Ayesha Ewing (200m) Chris Miedema (1,000m) and Jordon Vaughn and Mac Melto (200m) all came home with BIG EAST qualifying marks.
At the season-opening indoor meet on Dec. 7, Tayler Whittler ran a qualifying time in the 200m. In addition, Alexandra Muller (1,000m), Jazmyne Durrah (shot put and weight throw), Tonderai Tomu and Melto (400m) plus Adam Kovacs (weight throw) all qualified for the BIG EAST meet.
Friday's action gets underway at 3 p.m. (Chicago time) with the pole vault, long jump and weight throw. The Meyo Invitational continues at 9 a.m. Saturday with the women's 3,000-meter run.
