Meyo Invitational Up Next For DePaul Track And Field
Feb. 6, 2014
CHICAGO -- The DePaul track and field teams will compete at the Meyo Invitational in Notre Dame, Ind., this weekend (Feb. 7-8).
For the Blue Demons, it will be their second-to-last meet before the BIG EAST Indoor Championships on Feb. 21-22 in Armory, N.Y.
A year ago at the Meyo, DePaul's Jackie Kasal and Chris Miedema put together record-setting performances in the 1,000-meter and 800-meter runs, respectively. Kasal enters this year's Meyo Invite fresh off a win in the 1-mile run at last week's Indiana Relays in Bloomington, Ind. Kasal's mark (4:59.64), which bested the race's second-place finished by .03 seconds, was about four seconds shy of her personal record (4:55.11).
Also at last week's Indiana Relays, Matt Babicz tossed a personal best 19.43 meters in the shot put, which allowed him to win the Shot Put Invitational and set a national-qualifying mark. It was his fourth win in a shotput competition in five tries this season.
The University of Notre Dame will provide full coverage of the Meyo Invitational online and will also stream the competition via the internet. Full recaps of the two-day Meyo Invite will be posted at the conclusion of each day on DePaulBlueDemons.com.
