Track and Field Posts More Qualification Marks Before Conference Meet



NOTRE DAME, Ind. After a record breaking first day at the Meyo Invitational, the DePaul men’s and women’s track and field squad continued to post BIG EAST Conference qualifying performances and  new season-best numbers on the second and final day of competition.

Brad Millar placed third in weight throw, with a conference qualifying time of 18.54m.  Jim Theologes earned his first conference championship nod of the season in the shot put, with a 14.66m career-best performance.

Joe Strawder placed in the top-ten in the triple jump with season-best distance of 14.40m.  The junior’s personal-best jump was recorded last season after recording a performance of 14.77m.

Stephanie Williams surpassed the conference standard in both the 60m and the 200m.  She placed 15th overall in the 60m with a time of 7.81, while she finished in 16th place in the 200m after crossing the line at the 25.03 mark.

Mary Cate Quiett, who broke her own 1,000m school record yesterday, surpassed the BIG EAST standard in the 800m with a time of 2:12.03.  The school record in the 800m is currently 2:11.34; a record Quiett set herself last season.

In the men’s 200m, Gilbert Lifton earned another conference qualifying mark with a time of 22:58.  Tristan Stagger improved his season-best time in the event to 22.75.

Patrick Smith surpassed the BIG EAST standard in the 400m with a time of 49.28 to place 29th overall.

The Blue Demons take next weekend off too prepare for the BIG EAST Indoor Conference Championships held on February 21-22 in New York City
