DePaul Heads to ISU Classic for Three-Day Meet
Feb. 8, 2012
AMES, Iowa – The DePaul men’s and women’s track and field teams head to Ames, Iowa, for the Iowa State Classic beginning on Thursday and continuing through Saturday evening. The Blue Demons look to build on their success with a solid showing at ISU.
The shot put event will see a return to competition for DePaul’s Tim Nedow, who sat out last weekend’s Meyo Invitational after collecting four straight BIG EAST Conference Male Athlete of the Week awards. Nedow has broken the 20-meter mark in his last two competitions and currently holds the third best throw in the nation this season at 20.03 meters.
At the Meyo Invitational, however, fellow thrower Matt Babicz also made a name for himself. Babicz shone for the Blue Demons as he grabbed second place in the shot put event. Both Babicz and Nedow are not scheduled to compete until the shot put competition on Saturday afternoon. Freshman Anthony Babicz is set to represent DePaul in the non-seeded shot put event on Thursday.
Matthew Graham, who ran in his first 3,000 meter race of the season last weekend, is scheduled to return to the seeded men’s one mile run at the ISU Classic. Max Rodrigues is set to compete in the non-seeded mile.
On the women’s side, four Blue Demons—Alanna Kovacs, Melissa Fraser, Amanda Piche, and Jazmyne Durrah—are competing in the women’s weight throw event. Freshman Ayesha Ewing looks to rebound in the 60 meter this week.
