DePaul Women's Track and Field Team Compete at the Iowa State Classic and Pepsi Challenge
The field at the Iowa State Classic consisted of over 1,000 athletes, and is touted as one of the best indoor meets in the nation. The solid competition was met with a fight as Erin Moffett led the way for the Blue Demons, finishing 11th overall in the 5000 meter run. Moffett rounded the distance in 17:10.82.
Marlene Key, Jamie Holifield, and Erika Lockhart ran into success at the Classic, as Key, who posted the second highest DePaul finish, completed the 3000 meter run in 10:02.89 to notch the 20th place spot. Holifield came in 28th in the weight throw with a distance of 15.32 meters (50’03.25), while Erika Lockhart pushed a throw of 12.66 meters (41’06.50”) in the shot put for 30th place.
At the second meet of the weekend, the DePaul women claimed fifth place overall at the Pepsi Challenge. paced by Brittney Wilk. Wilk took home the triple jump with a 10.67 meter (35’00.25”) launch, along with marking a second place finish in the long jump at 5.14 meters (16’10.50”).
Jeana LeRoy helped the Blue Demons with a 12.11 meter (39’08.75”) throw to earn a third place finish in the shot put. A hurl of 14.68 meters (48’02.00”) in the weight throw put Laurel Mazar in the fourth place spot.
