Feb. 14, 2012
CHICAGO -- For the fifth time during indoor season, DePaul thrower Tim Nedow has earned the BIG EAST Conference Male Field Athlete of the Week award. The senior earned the nod his 20.35-meter shot put throw on Saturday took over as the top distance in the nation.
After taking off the previous weekend, Nedow returned to competition on Saturday and nabbed first place once again. Nedow has finished in first place in each of his five competitions this year. At Saturday’s Iowa State Classic, the senior’s throws were measured at 19.04 meters, 19.24 meters, 19.62 meters, and 20.26 meters before he reached the 20.35-meter (66’ 9.25”) mark. That event-best throw surpassed that of Kemal Mesic of the University of Florida whose 20.31-meter (66’ 7.75”) distance had been the country’s best.
In addition to his five wins, Nedow has also broken the DePaul indoor shot put record in every meet since the Blue and Gold Invitational on December 2nd.
Nedow will join the rest of the qualifying Blue Demons this coming weekend at the BIG EAST Conference Championships held in New York, N.Y.
