Men's Track and Field Take Part in Chicagoland Championship

CHICAGO - The DePaul men’s track and field team will participate in the Men’s Chicagoland Championship on Saturday, February 19th, at Lewis University.  The field events begin at 10:00 a.m., while events on the track start at 11:30 a.m. in Romeoville, Illinois

The student-athletes are using this meet as a final opportunity to make technical adjustments in preparation for the upcoming Conference USA Championship.  Members of the team not competing in the meet will be using the weekend to rest.

The Blue Demons faced strong competition last weekend, participating in both the Iowa State Classic and the Carthage College Pepsi Challenge.  Gavin Kennedy paced the way for DePaul at the ISU Classic, while Webster Jones was the top finisher for the Blue Demons at the Pepsi Challenge.

Kennedy took the 14th spot in the mile run at the ISU Classic, posting a mark of 4:09.57.  Jones tallied a height of 1.80 meters (5’10.75”) to secure fourth place in the high jump at the Pepsi Challenge.  The men’s squad finished ninth overall at the Pepsi Challenge, the only meet of the weekend featuring team scoring.

Following the Chicagoland Championship, DePaul will face the members of Conference USA at the Indoor Conference Championship in Houston, Texas.  The meet will take place on February 25-26 at the University of Houston.
