Deleston Top Finisher for Men's Track & Field
Rashard Deleston led the Blue Demon men’s track and field squad with a second place finish at the Chicagoland Indoor Championships.

CHICAGO – A small group from the Blue Demon men’s track and field team participated in the Men’s Chicagoland Indoor Championships this past Saturday, looking to refine their techniques for the upcoming C-USA Championship.  The men came in 12th place at Lewis University, but more importantly, the student-athletes obtained the final meet preparation needed.

 

The squad was led in the field by Rashard Deleston and Webster Jones.  Deleston grabbed the highest DePaul finish of the meet, placing second in the long jump with a 6.87m (22’06.50”) distance.  Webster Jones cleared 1.87m (6’01.50”) in the high jump to take sixth place.

 

Jeff Perkins and Clayton Smith paced the Blue Demons on the track with 13th and 14th place finishes, respectively.  Perkins rounded the 800 meter run in 2:00.31, while Smith clocked a time of 4:34.83 in the mile run.

 

After the past weekend of both preparation and rest by the DePaul team, the indoor season will present the true test of the Conference USA Indoor Championships in Houston, Texas.  The meet will take place at the University of Houston on February 25-26.
