CHICAGO - After finishing the regular season, the DePaul men's and women's track and field teams are en route to the BIG EAST Indoor Track and Field Championships. For the third year in-a-row, the conference meet will be held at the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Athletic Complex in Staten Island, N.Y. Competition is set for Friday, Feb. 23 and runs through Saturday, Feb. 24 where the women's pentathlon will kick off the meet at 8 a.m. on Friday and the men's 4x400 meter relay will conclude the championships at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday.

Several Blue Demons look to defend their 2017 BIG EAST championship titles. On the women's side, Emily Eller will look to improve her 14.02m gold finish from 2016. Eller's longest throw this season reached 14.31 meters at the Meyo Invitational.

For the men's squad, Kyle Hedge will be back in the shot put. Hedge's 16.48-meter throw was good for gold in the 2016 championships. Junior Kyle Decker looks to defend the 60-meter hurdles. His time of 8.36 in 2017 captured the title. Decker raced to a first place finish at the Illinois Open last week, clocking in 8.30.

Senior Sebastian Feyersinger will give it his last go-around in his reigning event, the 400-meter dash. He claimed gold in the event at the 2016 indoor meet, finishing in 47.85 seconds. Feyersinger was tabbed as the BIG EAST Track Athlete of the Week earlier this season, posting a indoor personal best at the Meyo Invitational (47.82).

Field event standout Brian Mada is back to defend his title in his signature event, the triple jump. His victory last year saw a jump of 14.63 meters. Mada was victorious in three consecutive meets this season. His top mark this season is 15.58 meters at the Notre Dame Invitational in January.

Other notable athletes include 60-meter hurdles school record holder Alexia Brooks. She broke the previous school record (8.56) three times over the course of the season, finishing with a 8.44 at the Meyo Invitational.

Jade Nolan, who was a two-time BIG EAST Field Athlete of the Week this season, is set to compete in the long jump and triple jump at the championships. Nolan is ranked second in the BIG EAST after logging a 5.83-meter attempt in the long jump at Hoosier Hills.

Dual-sport athlete Elizabeth Endy was named the BIG EAST Track Athlete of the Week on Tuesday and will toe the line for the first time at the BIG EAST Championship meet on Friday. Endy won gold in the 800-meter at the Alex Wilson Invitational, clocking in at 2:08.40. That mark sets a personal best for Endy by nearly a second. Her time of 2:08.40 places at 66th in NCAA Division I and fifth in the conference.
