DePaul Track & Field Takes On C-USA at the Indoor Championship

CHICAGO – The DePaul men’s and women’s track & field teams reach the culmination of their indoor competition this weekend at the Conference USA Championship in Houston, Texas.  The two-day meet will be hosted by the University of Houston and take place on February 25th and 26th.

The first day of competition begins with the women’s pentathlon at 9:30 a.m. and concludes with the women’s and men’s distance medley relay. On Saturday, the fun begins with the women’s shot put at 11:00 a.m., while the women’s and men’s 4 x 400 meter relay finishes up C-USA action.

 

The Blue Demons return from a weekend that included a tune-up for selected members at the Chicagoland Championship.  The men’s squad was led by Rashard Deleston in the long jump and Webster Jones in the high jump.  Deleston recorded a second place finish launching 6.87m (22’06.50”), and Jones soared 1.87m (6’01.50”) to take sixth place.

 

Carrie Moffett cruised to her fastest mile of the indoor season, taking second place overall with a time of 5:07.73.  Covering a distance of 10.96m (35”11.50”), Brittney Wilk held the next top spot for the DePaul women with a fourth place finish in the triple jump.

 

Following the C-USA Indoor Championship, DePaul will participate in the NCAA Qualifier on March 5th, in Ames, Iowa.
