Men's Indoor Team at Fourth in C-USA Championships

HOUSTON – Following the first day of the 2004 Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Championships, the Blue Demons stand in 10th place.  Erin Moffett was the top finisher in Friday’s action with a second-place finish in the 5,000-meter run.

Jahnke won the men’s weight throw with a distance of 17.88 meters (58’8”).  He outdistanced second-placed finisher Eric Frasure of East Carolina who posted a mark fo 17.37 meters (57’0”).

The men’s 5,000-meter run saw two Blue Demons place in the top eight.  Donnie Warner finished in second place with a time of 15:06.14 while Anthony Becknek was eight in 15:32.94.  Marquette’s Brent Des Roches won the event in a time of 14:59.78.

DePaul also qualified two student-athletes for Saturday’s 400-meter dash finals.  Larry Inanga posted the fourth-best time on Friday at 48.65 while Siddiqu Muhammad was sixth overall of the five heats with a time of 48.96.  TCU’s Brett Wilson posted the top qualifying time of 48.27.

In the long jump, Rashard Deleston took seventh place with a mark of 7.15 meters (23’5.5”).  Aundre Edwards of TCU won the event with a winning distance of 7.60 meters (24’11.25”).

The men’s distance medley relay team of Kim Trieu, Doug Bohr, Mike Scafide and Rick Britton placed sixth with a time of 10:36.03 to round out the scoring for DePaul.
