Hi Blue Demon Fans!
It's been a great track and field season so far! I'm so proud of all my teammates who did so well at the BIG EAST Championships last weekend. While the rest of the squad had the weekend off, I got the unique opportunity to race at the USA Indoor Track & Field Championships. To even qualify is such a huge honor, and I can't wait to face some the United State's most talented athletes. Well we (assistant coach Andrew Craycraft and I) got off to an "exciting" start by nearly missing our flight. Due to traffic we arrived at the airport around 5:30 p.m. with our flight set to take off at 6:05 p.m. Security was no breeze. At about 5:55 p.m. we decided that maybe we should try to explain our situation to the people in front of us and hope they would let us go ahead, which they did. Thanks whoever you are! While coach was busy with the special bag check, I left my bags with him and threw on my shoes and jacket and literally sprinted through the airport all the way to gate B16. I really can't think of a time I was more thankful that I'm a runner. I got to the gate and begged the man to hold the plane. He kindly informed me that he had to close the doors in 3 minutes. I nervously paced and watched for Coach Andy. I have to admit I felt the odds were against us since he was carrying two backpacks and two duffle bags. Yet somehow, by the grace of God, he arrived on time! I told the man not to close the doors because I could see him. I ran and met coach and we hurried onto the flight. I glanced down at my watch as we board. It was 6:05 p.m. Can't believe how close we cut it! I feel this could be the beginning of a very "exciting" weekend.
