Kennedy Owns School Mile Record

CHICAGO – Three DePaul men traveled to South Bend, Ind., in hopes of returning with an NCAA Indoor Championship qualification, but Gavin Kennedy stole the show, taking sole possession of the DePaul indoor mile record.

The Alex Wilson Invitational was the final indoor meet for the Blue Demon track and field teams, as no members qualified to compete in the NCAAs.

Kennedy surpassed his previous personal best of 4:08.73, and a school record he shared with Bill Drennan who initially set the record in 1967.  Kennedy clocked a 4:08.08 finish in the race.

Larry Inanga and Anthony Becknek also competed over the weekend.  Inanga sped to a season best time of 47.97 in the 400 meter dash, while Becknek rounded the 3000 meter run in 8:29.75, just shy of his 8:29.50 season best finish.

The Blue Demons will start the outdoor season at the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, N.C., on March 25-26.
