Brad Millar and Joe Strawder Place in the Top-Five at the Alex Wilson Invitational
NOTRE DAME, Ind. Joe Strawder and Brad Millar competed in the Alex Wilson Invitational hosted by BIG EAST Conference rival Notre Dame. Strawder placed third overall in the long jump, while Millar picked up a fourth place finish in the weight throw.
Strawder, who most recently placed fifth in the long jump at the BIG EAST Indoor Championships, recorded a distance of 7.11m. The junior returns to action in the first meet of the outdoor season. The Bobby Lane Invitational, hosted by Texas-Arlington, takes place on March 27-28. Unattached jumper Clayton Latham won the event with a jump of 7.51m.
Millar placed fourth in the weight throw with a distance of 18.03m. The sophomore is slated to compete in the NCAA Indoor Championships after meeting the provisional qualification mark at the league championships two weekends ago. He hit a personal-best mark of 19.64m to finish in second place. Michigan State’s Jay Gillespie won the event with a throw of 18.58m.
Tomorrow, Stephanie Williams and Mary Cate Quiett get their chance to qualify for the NCAA National Championships. Williams competes in the 200m, while Quiett runs the 800m race.
