Track & Field Return from Outdoor Opener
CHICAGO - The Blue Demons finished off the holiday weekend at one of the top outdoor track and field meets in the country. The Raleigh Relays, hosted by North Carolina State, consisted of student-athletes that were representing over 70 universities. In DePaul’s first meet of the outdoor season, a squad of six women competed for the Blue Demons. Marlene Key finished strong in the 10,000 meter run, taking fifth place with a time of 36:06.48. Carrie Moffett covered 5000 meters in 17:37.74 to grab eighth place in the event. Both Marissa and Allyson Petersen raced in the 400 meter dash, Marissa notching a third place finish in her section at 59.45, while Allyson finished in 59.95 to place fourth in her section. In the 400 meter hurdles, DaShara Wells cruised into a fifth place finish of her section, crossing the line in 1:07.91. Newcomer Kayla Burks participated in the high jump, tying for third place in her section with a leap of 1.70 meters (5' 07"). This week, DePaul will prepare for the Notre Dame Outdoor Invitational on April 2nd, taking place in South Bend, Indiana.
