Men's Track & Field Notches Three Top Spots

CHICAGO – The DePaul men’s track & field team brought home a fifth place finish this past weekend at the Elmhurst College Invite.  In the second meet of the outdoor season, the Blue Demons notched three first place finishes overall.

Dave Boduch, Rashard Deleston, and Rich Fugiel were DePaul’s individual champions.  Boduch won the javelin throw with a 49.20m (161’5.00”) launch.  Deleston surpassed the competition in the triple jump, bounding 14.10m (46’3.25”) for the lead.  Fugiel showed his speed in the 400 meter dash, making the rounds in 50.16.

The 400 meter dash proved to be DePaul’s strength as five of the top six spots were taken by Blue Demons.  Justin Williams (50.16) followed Fugiel’s lead, sprinting into third place.  Dan Branca (51.66) grabbed the fourth spot, Jeff Perkins (51.86) took fifth, and Kriss Arnold (51.97) slid into sixth place.

Webster Jones stayed atop the high jump with a 1.78m (5’10.00”) leap into fourth place.

The Blue Demon men’s track and field team will continue their outdoor season next weekend at the Chicagoland Championships.  The meet will take place in Naperville, Illinois, on April 7-9.
