Hammer Throwers Open Competition at Mike Poehlein Invitational
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The hammer throwers of the DePaul women's track and field squad got things started for the Blue Demons during day one of the Mike Poehlein Invitational. The remainder of the team continues competition tomorrow, with field events beginning at 9 a.m. (CST) and running events starting at 12:20 p.m.
Virginia MacFabe made her outdoor-season debut, launching a hammer throw distance of 43.87m to rank withing the top 15. Teammate and sister Katelyn MacFabe, who last weekend at the Raleigh Relays qualified for the BIG EAST Conference Championship with a distance of 45.20m, settled for a throw of 40.36m this afternoon.
Both Virginia and Katelyn are slated to throw the discus tomorrow morning, beginning at 9 a.m.
