Track and Field Continues Season at Chicagoland Championships
Friday’s action opens at noon with the men’s and women’s hammer throw. Tammy Burris, Jamie Holifield, Virginia MacFabe and Sara Polensky represent DePaul in the women’s event. Curtis Hoag, Ian Ianakov and Brad Millar enter the men’s event for the Blue Demons. Burris, Holifield, Hoag and Millar all posted BIG EAST Championship qualifying throws in both of the season’s first two meets.
DePaul closes out Friday’s events with the men’s and women’s 10,000m run. Brian Godar and Jakub Kolacz enter the men’s race, while Reda Josifi and Colleen Stiles-Shields compete in the women’s race.
The Blue Demons resume competition on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. with the men’s javelin throw. Millar enters the event after setting a DePaul javelin record of 54.74m at the SIU Spring Classic. He is joined by Hoag and Ianakov in their first javelin throw of the season.
Saturday’s distance events open with the men’s and women’s 3,000m steeplechase. Anthony Becknek and Eoin Dunne both broke through the BIG EAST qualifying standard of 9:34.24 at the SIU Spring Classic and are joined by Rob Morgan, Kevin Peine and Luke Rygh in the men’s race. Carrie Moffett takes on the women’s race after posting a time of 11:59.35 at last week’s Mike Poehlein Invitational.
The women’s 100m dash features Mary Hodges, Shauna Lurey, Kaaydah Nangle and Stephanie Williams. Williams posted a BIG EAST qualifying time of 12.11 last week at the Bobby Lane Invitational. Kwaku Attoh, Jason Goldman, Mark Kliethermes and Piotr Lewkowski represent the Blue Demons the men’s 100m dash.
Claire Duck enters the women’s 800m run after setting a new DePaul record of 2:11.60 at the Bobby Lane Invitational. She is joined by Allyson Petersen and Maureen Kuhta in the race. The men’s 800m run features Dan Branca, Scott Cooper, Nick Schaefer and Greg Udzielak.
The Blue Demons also compete in the men’s and women’s discus, men’s and women’s long jump, men’s and women’s shot put, men’s and women’s triple jump, men’s and women’s 4x100m relay, men’s and women’s 1,500m run, men’s and women’s 200m dash, men’s and women’s 400m dash, men’s and women’s 400m hurdles, men’s and women’s 5,000m run, men’s and women’s 4x400m relay, men’s 110m hurdles and women’s 100m hurdles.
