Millar Moves Up in National Ranks at Sun Angel Track Classic

TEMPE, Ariz. – The hammer throwers got things started today for the DePaul men’s and women’s track and field squads during day one of the 31st Annual Sun Angel Track Classic.  Both Blue Demon representatives, Brad Millar and Melissa Fraser, recorded top-10 performances with BIG EAST Conference Championship qualifying throws.

Millar had a career day, placing second in the hammer throw behind a personal-record launch of 66.13m.  Today’s performance extends the senior’s lead on the BIG EAST Conference performance list to nearly nine meters, while it could potentially move him into the top-10 in the national rankings.

In the women’s hammer competition, Fraser let loose a throw of 53.06m to place seventh overall.  The junior’s season-best distance of 55.54m currently ranks fifth on the BIG EAST performance list and is a Blue Demon all-time high.

DePaul continues action tomorrow for the second and final day of the Sun Angel Track Classic, beginning at 11 a.m. (CST).  Full results and recaps will be available at www.DePaulBlueDemons.com.
