Nedow Earns First Outdoor BIG EAST Weekly Award
April 10, 2012 PROVIDENCE, R.I. - After collecting five BIG EAST Conference weekly awards during indoor season, the conference announced on Tuesday that DePaul senior Tim Nedow has picked up his first male field athlete of the week honor of outdoor competition. A two-victory day at the Chicagoland Championships earned the senior his first-ever outdoor award. Though Nedow had not competed in the men's shot put during outdoor season until Saturday, the Blue Demon standout still managed to grab first place in the event. Despite fouls on his final throws, Nedow garnered an initial distance of 17.78 meters to earn the win. The senior's success did not end there. Nedow topped the podium once again on Saturday as he won his first discus competition of the season. His career-best distance of 56.66 meters came in at over seven meters better than the second-place finisher. The Blue Demons next head to Columbia, Mo., for the Tom Botts Invitational on Saturday, April 14.
