CHICAGO – DePaul’s track and field team will be shooting for more BIG EAST Conference Outdoor Championships qualifying marks Friday and Saturday at the Lee Calhoun Invitational in Macomb, Ill.

After posting the winning combined team score and the top women’s team score at last weekend’s Chicagoland Championships, a number of Blue Demons earned a well-deserved break.

“We’re giving some of our athletes a rest after all the events of last weekend,” said DePaul coach Dave Dopek. “Others need this meet to round into shape.

“It’s back to work looking to record some BIG EAST qualifying times and marks. We’re trying to get stronger before heading into the championship phase of our schedule the next three weeks with the Mt. SAC Relays, Drake Relays and BIG EAST Championships.”

Jazmyne Durrah, Sarah Moss and Amanda Piche will represent DePaul in the women’s discus throw on Friday afternoon while Blake Thompson and Anthony Babicz will compete on the men’s side.

Also on Friday afternoon at Western Illinois, Durrell McDonald and Matt Pietrus will give it their best shot in the men’s high jump.

Later in the evening, Hannah Pulliam and Taylor Hynes are running in the 5,000-meter race with Herald Alvarez and Zak Koronkiewicz competing in the men’s 5K.

On Saturday, the field events begin at 11 a.m. with the pole vault while track events open at 11 a.m. with the 3000m steeplechase featuring DePaul’s Jackie Kasal.
