Track and Field Travels to Champaign for Illinois Twilight

CHICAGO – The DePaul track and field teams take the trip down I-57 to Champaign for the Illinois Twilight on Saturday. Events begin at 3 p.m. with the throwing events. The one-day event takes place on the campus of the University of Illinois at the Illinois Track and Field Stadium.

Joining the Blue Demons and host Illini in Champaign are Eastern Illinois, UIC, IUPUI, Marquette and Northern Illinois. Live results will be available throughout the meet.

Eller, Mada Earn BIG EAST Weekly Honors: DePaul’s Emily Eller and Brian Mada were selected as the female and male BIG EAST Field Athletes of the Week by the conference office following the opening weekend of the outdoor season. Mada added a second weekly honor after winning the long jump and triple jump at the Baylor Invitational.

Eller broke her own school record with a distance in the shot put of 14.43 meters. The DePaul junior bettered her previous-best mark of 14.33 meters set in 2016 and finished in second place in Jacksonville.

Mada won the long jump and triple jump titles at the UNF Spring Break Invitational with personal record marks in both events. His winning distance in the triple jump of 15.69 meters set a new school record and he also won the long jump with a personal-best distance of 7.44 meters. He followed the UNF performance up with another sweep of the long and triple jumps to win athlete of the week honors for the second time in the outdoor season.
Looking Ahead: Following the Illinois Twilight, the Blue Demons host the DePaul Invitational on Saturday, April 21 at Lane Stadium. DePaul welcomes Chicago State, UIC, Milwaukee, Northern Illinois and Valparaiso for the meet. Start time is 10 a.m. with a senior day ceremony scheduled for 10:30 a.m.
