Mada Garners Second Weekly Conference Honor of Season

NEW YORK – For the third time this season, DePaul track & field earned a weekly honor from the BIG EAST after Brian Mada was named the conference’s Men's Field Athlete of the Week, announced Tuesday by the league office.

Mada improved his BIG EAST-best mark in the triple jump on Saturday at the Beach Invitational after hitting 14.97 meters on his best attempt. It was the second meet in a row Mada improved his mark and placed 10th overall, seventh among college competition. The sophomore also recorded a mark of 6.72 meters in the long jump.

The Rusape, Zimbabwe native leads the BIG EAST by .26 meters in the triple jump and sits 42nd in the West (102nd nationally). This is the second time in three weeks Mada has earned the honor.

This is the third week in a row that DePaul has claimed a BIG EAST weekly honor. Freshman Dylan Marshall won the Women’s Field Athlete of the Week last week.

Mada and the Blue Demons prepare for their next meet at the Illinois Twilight on Saturday, April 22. Events begin at 3 p.m. CT with the women’s hammer throw.
