CHICAGO – Members of the track and field teams represented DePaul at the Kansas Relays and Elmhurst Intercollegiate Invitational this weekend. Jarrod Jahnke and Larry Inanga notched the top individual showings at the Kansas Relays while the men’s 4x880-yard relay team won their event. In Elmhurst, Jeana LeRoy took second in the shot put while Rashard Deleston and Cornelius Sams were fourth in their events.
In Lawrence, Kan., the team of Kai Murray, Will Lazicki, Ben Cooke and Armando Aguirre combined to win the 4x880-yard relay with a time of 7:39.83.
Jahnke placed fifth in the hammer throw with a distance of 55.39 meters. His distance qualified him for the NCAA Mideast Regional at the end of May. Megan Greeley took seventh place in the women’s javelin throw while the women’s sprint medley relay team took fourth place. Greeley registered a season-best distance of 44.50 meters while Dee Moore, Kristil Nicholas, Diana Runnels and Leah Rygh totaled a time of 4:05.08.
Runnels and Larry Inanga reached the finals of the women’s and men’s 400-meter dash. Runnels notched the seventh-best preliminary time of 56.61, but didn’t place in the finals. Inanga ran a 47.85 in the prelims before finishing fifth in the final with a time of 48.32.
LeRoy was second in the shot put at the Elmhurst Invitational with a distance of 11.18 meters. She also finished eighth in the discus throw competition at 34.25 meters. After qualifying for the 110-meter hurdles, Sams ran a 15.49 to finish fourth in the finals. Deleston’s distance of 6.63 meters was good enough for fourth in the long jump while he also placed eighth in the 200-meter dash at 22.91.
