Track and Field to Face Big Competition in Cardinal Classic

Competition opens Friday evening with the women’s hammer throw. School record holder Tammy Burris will be joined by Jamie Holifield, Jeana LeRoy, and Erika Lockhart in the event.
Coming off a first place finish at last weekend’s Elmhurst Invitational, Ryan Thompson begins Saturday’s competition in the long jump at 11:00 a.m. (EST). The women’s 4x100m relay team of Mary Hodges, Kyra Coffey, Jessica Rodriguez, and Stephanie Williams, which has netted two first place finishes this outdoor season, will follow.
The 1,500m run is slotted for noon, with Maureen Kuhta and Carrie Moffett in the women’s race while Richard Byrne and Rob Morgan compete for the men.
The Blue Demon throwers are set to return at 1:00 p.m. in the women’s discus throw and wrap up their competition as Holifield and Lockhart throw the shot put at 2:30 p.m.
Webster Jones, who took first in the high jump at the Elmhurst Invitational, looks to clear the bar at 6:00 p.m.
The men’s 4x400m relay team of Richard Fugiel, Donnie Smith, Patrick Smith and Gabe Harris is set to close out the day at 7:10 p.m.
DePaul is scheduled to compete in the men’s 110m hurdles, the men’s and women’s 400m dash, the men’s and women’s 100m dash, the men’s 400m hurdles, the men’s and women’s 800m run, and the men’s and women’s 200m dash.
