Erin Moffett Sets School Record at Penn Relays
Penn Relays Results
PHILADELPHIA – For the second time this season, DePaul’s Erin Moffett set a new school record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. On Thursday night at the 110th Penn Relays, the senior improved the school mark with a personal-best time of 10:29.22. She finished seventh overall in the championship heat of the women’s steeplechase.
Moffett opened the outdoor season at the Raleigh Relays by breaking her own record set last year. At that meet, she posted a then-record time of 10:31.92. Her new record set on Thursday in Philadelphia also improved her time for the NCAA Regional at the end of May in Baton Rouge, La.
DePaul assistant coach and former distance runner for the Blue Demons, Luis Samayoa, competed in the men’s Olympic Development 5,000 meters. Samayoa took 15th place with a time of 14:44.31.
The remainder of the DePaul track and field team gets into action on Friday and Saturday. DePaul will be represented by student-athletes at the Drake Relays and Boilermaker Invitational this weekend.
